How these calculators work

All calculations run in your browser and nothing you enter is stored or sent to a server. Results are only as good as the measurements you enter, so use finished dimensions, keep the same units on both sides of a formula and round once at the end.

The tools calculate geometry and quantities. They do not choose structural members, confirm code compliance or replace project drawings, so check the applicable plans and local requirements before cutting or ordering. New to the formulas? Start with the construction math guide, which has a formula table and practice problems with answers.
